The Digital Switchover is already starting, with view to complete by 2012 when UK Television Broadcasting will be entirely digital. Digital TV is also known as Freeview TV, with Pay to View channels also being available on the digital signal.

Region by Region the country is already beginning to turn off analogue signal broadcasting, and much of the country can already receive the Digital TV signal, and watch the Freeview & Pay to View tv channels.

With access to a clear digital TV signal, you can have access to a whole new variety of Freeview TV channels, as well as pay for selected digital tv channels. This will bring you a whole new variety of digital entertainment, sport, current affairs and interactive channels, as well as music radio and TV for free!

There are currently approximately 70 Digital TV & Radio channels available, with the digital signal offering greater clarity of sound and picture than analogue signal, it seems a waste to wait until 2012 to benefit from this technology!

Switch On To Digital & Freeview TV

There are a number of options to receive the Freeview Digital TV services, with no need to replace your current Television set.

Currently, the most common choice to receive digital signals is to have a digital TV aerial installed at your property, along with a digital television freeview receiver box. There is no requirement to replace your television, however if you do want to update your television set, you could also purchase a television with an inbuilt digital freeview receiver, and even HD.

NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS!

Freeview Digital TV does not require a monthly subscription to enjoy the free to view television channels but there are a number of additional digital TV channels which are available on ‘Top Up TV’ as Pay to View channels, for which you will need to ensure your receiver has a CAM card access.

The Launch of Freeview+

Freeview have now launched Freeview+ providing anyone with a Freeview+ digital receiver, the ability to record their television programmes of choice without the need for tapes/dvd's or a separate HDD recorder. The Freeview+ digital television receiver incorporates all the technology of standard Freeview, but features a hard disk to store all your recorded programmes. Furthermore, you can also pause, rewind and fast forward live tv! This feature will ensure you never miss a moment of your favourite television viewing again, even when you have an unexpected visitor!

You can check to see if you can receive the digital signal yet by using one of the digital TV postcode checking system, which is based upon general area signal strengths.
