The Digital Switchover is already starting, with view to complete by 2012 when UK Television Broadcasting will be entirely digital. Digital TV is also known as Freeview TV, with Pay to View channels also being available on the digital signal.

Region by Region the country is already beginning to turn off analogue signal broadcasting, and much of the country can already receive the Digital TV signal, and watch the Freeview & Pay to View tv channels.

There are a number of options to receive the Freeview Digital TV services, with no need to replace your current Television set.

Currently, the most common choice to receive digital signals is to have a digital TV aerial installation at your property, along with a digital television freeview receiver set top box. There is no requirement to replace your television, however if you do want to update your television set, you could also purchase a television with an inbuilt digital freeview receiver, and even HD (however ask whether the in built freeview receiver can receive freeview HD!).

NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS!

Freeview Digital TV does not require a monthly subscription to enjoy the free to view television channels but there are a number of additional digital TV channels which are available on ‘Top Up TV’ as Pay to View channels, for which you will need to ensure your receiver has a CAM card access.

Freeview have now launched Freeview+ providing anyone with a Freeview+ digital receiver, the ability to record their television programmes of choice without the need for tapes/dvd's or a separate HDD recorder. The Freeview+ digital television receiver incorporates all the technology of standard Freeview, but features a hard disk to store all your recorded programmes. Furthermore, you can also pause, rewind and fast forward live tv! This feature will ensure you never miss a moment of your favourite television viewing again, even when you have an unexpected visitor!

Freeview HD Has Arrived!

In selected area's of the United Kingdom, Freeview HD is already being broadcast to many homes! This exciting new broadcast means you could receive the highest of quality digital signal and improved picture and audio quality, still with no monthly costs or contracts! Freeview HD is set to improve the already fantastic digital television reception, and provide a greater range of home viewing entertainment! By 2012, it is expected that the majority of the United Kingdom should be able to receive the new Freeview HD signals being transmitted, and perhaps a broader range of free channels, as more broadcasting space becomes available.
