Choosing Between Freeview and Freesat
If you’re trying to decide between getting Freeview and Freesat for your digital TV, you may not even know what the difference is. In short, Freeview works with a digital aerial and Freesat works via a satellite.
Before Freeview Plus and Freeview HD were more widely available, Freesat was really the only way to enjoy high definition TV for free. Freesat also seems to offer more free channels than Freeview, though both offer a few that you can’t get with the other. So again, you’ll need to compare and decide which is best for you.
Freeview is available almost everywhere now, but if you are in a location that still doesn’t have it, or doesn’t have Freeview HD, you may want to go with Freesat until that time comes. Plus, if you already have a satellite in your home, you won’t need any other equipment installed.
Both methods will allow you to record your favourite TV shows but with Freeview you will need Freeview Plus. Both also allow you to pause, rewind, and fast forward live TV, but if you want these features with Freeview make sure that you ask about them so you don’t just get the basic Freeview box.
